5G Connectivity Limitation

Despite its attractive features, the Redmi A4 5G has a notable limitation concerning 5G network compatibility. The smartphone supports only Standalone (SA) 5G networks and does not support Non-Standalone (NSA) 5G networks.

In India, major telecom operators like Airtel utilize NSA architecture for their 5G services. Consequently, users with Airtel connections will not be able to access 5G services on the Redmi A4 5G and will be limited to 4G connectivity. In contrast, Jio’s 5G network operates on SA architecture, making it compatible with the Redmi A4 5G.

Implications for Consumers

Prospective buyers should consider their current or preferred telecom operator before purchasing the Redmi A4 5G. If you are an Airtel user or plan to use Airtel’s 5G services, this device will not provide 5G connectivity. However, for Jio users, the smartphone offers full 5G functionality.
